THE SECOND ANNUAL Youth Democracy Fest is just a few weeks away, and it’s not too early to reserve your spot! This event is free, but seating is limited, so please reserve today by clicking HERE.
This family-friendly event will bring together youth of all ages to celebrate democracy through poetry, art and song. This year’s fest takes place on Saturday, March 14 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center. Come hear youth lift their voices on topics of freedom, change, and their hopes for the future as we celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary—the Semiquincentennial.
We’ll also enjoy uplifting performances by Downwire, poets Malachi Byrd and Regie Cabico, and singer Munit Mesfin. Not to mention free refreshments, and prizes for participating youth. For sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, please email info@theciviccircle.org.
The Civic Circle is excited to be collaborating with Action Youth Media, Community CHEER, Liberty’s Promise and Story Tapestries to offer students free civic arts residencies in the weeks leading up to the fest. The festival will also feature civic speeches from students with the Mikva Challenge and Montgomery Community College.
We thank the Donors InVesting in Arts (DIVAs) Fund, a component fund of the Greater Washington Community Foundation, for supporting this event. To reserve your spot at the Youth Democracy Fest, please click HERE. We look forward to seeing you there!
