The Youth Democracy Fest is Almost Here!

Newsletter 1

IT’S NOT TOO LATE to reserve your seat at The Civic Circle’s Youth Democracy Fest. Click HERE to join us on March 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center. You’ll be treated to uplifting civic songs, stories, speeches and art pieces from students more than a dozen elementary, middle and high schools in our region. Also participating are students from Montgomery College, and Action Youth Media. We thank these and the other partners who collaborated with us to help make this event come together, including Community CHEER, Liberty’s Promise, Mikva Challenge, and Story Tapestries. Thank you! And thanks to all the students who have worked so hard to put into words, art and song what democracy means to them, and their hopes and concerns for the future.

TO GET A TASTE of what lies ahead on Saturday, listen to The Civic Circle’s interview on Takoma Radio (WOWD) on We Are Takoma/Somos Takoma. (Click the archive and navigate to 3/11/26 at 12 p.m.!) You can also watch a program created by Action Youth Media capturing our inaugural Youth Democracy Fest in 2025! Click HERE to watch.

We also thank MOM’s Organic Market, People’s Book, and No Regrets Pizza for their in-kind donations. This work also would not be possible without generous operational support from the Maryland State Arts Council, the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, and the Newburger-Schwartz Family Foundation. If you cannot attend but would like to support this event, and our civic arts program, please click HERE or on the Donate button below. Thank you!
