Big thanks to everyone who made our GivingCivicsNow campaign a success! We exceeded our goal with more than $3,000 in contributions large and small via Facebook, PayPal, and the good old U.S. Postal Service.
Here are some of the reasons why GivingCivicsNow was so important this year:
- Democracy is in a fragile state. Election systems are under assault, and Americans’ confidence in public institutions is at a low point.
- We inspire young students to understand and participate in democracy, using the creative arts as a potent tool for teaching and self-expression.
- When it comes to civic learning, Americans have exected far too little from students, and we start too late.
- The Civic Circle starts young, teaches real skills, and gets students excited about democracy through the creative arts.
- Civic learning correlates with better grades, graduation rates and job readiness.
- Our program aims to close an equity gap that has hampered civic learning and engagement in marginalized communities.
