STUDENTS EXPLORED RESPECT and peaceful conflict resolution (Listen!) this summer by working in teams to create animal block prints with teaching artist Trisha Gupta. Trisha invited the students to work on the prints in pairs, giving them the opportunity to practice compromise and conflict resolution through the process of creating an art piece together. The students then shared their prints with younger students, explaining their artistic process and the lessons they learned. The Civic Circle thanks Montgomery Housing Partnership for the opportunity to collaborate on this summer program, which brought The Civic Circle to students who attend Odessa Shannon Middle School.
THE CIVIC CIRCLE IS EXCITED TO WELCOME two new members to our Board of Directors. Michelle Armstead is a social impact specialist in the health care field, and serves on the Montgomery County Health and Wellness Committee. Rachel Migone has a background in arts administration, grant coordination and marketing. She’s currently the assistant producer at the Rockville Little Theater. Welcome, Michelle and Rachel!
WE EXTEND GRATEFUL THANKS to the Maryland State Arts Council for its generous Grants for Organizations award for fiscal 2025. This funding will have a substantial impact on our work to lift up youth voices through the arts in Montgomery County. The Civic Circle also is excited to announce a grant award from Montgomery County through its Community Projects Fund Grant Program. This funding will support youth performances to celebrate the civic skills at the heart of our program, including voting (Choose!). Thank you, MSAC and Montgomery County!
