Fall highlights included a career club visit from Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando. PUBLIC SERVICE, PEACE, AND CIVIC POWER are propelling Civic Circle workshops this fall, which have reached more than 150 students in Grades 2-12 in nine different classrooms. A highlight has been our “Jobs for Change” career club with Community CHEER for middle and high school students, who have learned how they can earn a living by making the world a better place. BIG THANKS TO THE MANY sponsors, friends and good citizens who made our seventh anniversary “Art of Democracy” celebration such a heartwarming success. We had a surprise visit from Congressman Jamie Raskin, a civic educator in his own right, who told us that the same week his book “We the Students” was censored in Texas, “Vladimir Putin banned me for life from ever going to Russia. So I got banned in Texas and Russia the same week.”
