Thank you to Councilmember Will Jawando for an outstanding visit to Civic Circle students! It was an enriching and extremely valuable opportunity for the students. They had a lot to say about the concerns on their minds, and he was a fantastic spokesman for the three “steps to democracy” they are focusing on this spring: Speak, Act and Lead!
Great show by performers Nick Newlin and Uasuf Gueye for an amazing 16 classrooms participating simultaneously at Rock View Elementary School. Thank you, students, for your great questions and insights about the seven “steps to democracy”!
The Civic Circle thanks Fabio Garay, a dynamic student leader with the Montgomery College Dream Alliance, for visiting with Civic Circle students to talk about how to speak up and make change in our community. Thank you, Fabio!
A thousand thanks to Carpe Diem Arts for including The Civic Circle in last night’s Community Sing. The Community Sing is a wonderfully civic event, and it takes place on the 21st of every month. This month we celebrated Music in Our Schools month by singing The Citizen Tango, which introduces students to the seven “steps to democracy!”
Student journalists rock! Big thanks to the editors and staff of the Northwood High School newspaper, Red & Black, for visiting Civic Circle students. The students had fun reading and learning about the paper, and even created their own “Zine” with the help of the high school visitors.
